Red Bull X-Alps is hailed as the world's toughest adventure race. With each edition, competitors from around the globe arrive in Austria for a grueling test of the body and mind. From Salzburg, they make their way only by foot and paraglider to Monaco, navigating 1138 km of treacherous alpine terrain. Often covering distances of 100km per day, sometimes more, athletes must combine skill and strategy, while overcoming injury and fatigue. Many will accept defeat and drop out before the end, but a select few will stop at nothing to reach the finish line. The race, which starts in Salzburg, will cross the borders of 6 countries via 13 Turnpoints before arriving at the finishing line in Monaco. With every edition of Red Bull X-Alps comes an entirely new route. This guarantees a unique race and an equal playing field for both rookies and veterans alike. The mandatory Turn points are found along the Alps, where athletes must check-in by signing their name in order to move on to the next Turn point. Every 48 hours, the athlete in the last place is eliminated; so competitors are not only competing to win but also to remain in the race.
